RI Middle School Wrestling States
01/27/08 - Katelyn Bouyssou became the first girl ever to win a RI wrestling state championship this weekend. Katelyn wrestled in the 96lb division at Middle School States. She won all her 5 matches, pinning her opponent in the final with style. The crowd went wild to see Katelyn wrestle against the boys and win. Also wrestling at Middle School States were Devin Hurst and Andrew Mitura. Giving up alot of weight Devin did extremely well to take the silver medal. Andrew had alot of hard matches where he battled right through to the final but was out wrestled and placed 2nd. Congratulations to all.
RI High School Wrestling States
02/23/08 - Wrestling for their schools at High School States were Everet, Ricondo, Shawn, Nick, Ethan and Keenan. First place medalists were Shawn Giblin and Ethan Farrell. Shawn wrestled in the 125lb weight division, winning all by pins and techs. Giblin was easily noticable in the final, pinning his opponent in the first period. Ethan wrestled in the 145lb weight bracket where he was awarded the best finals match award. Ethan fell 5-0 behind in the final but never gave up and came back to win the match 10-5. Also in finals were Everet and Keenan. Everet as a freshman in the 112lb bracket wrestled well but had a hard finals match and placed second. Keenan in the 160lb bracket wrestled well throughout the tournament but did not preform in the final. Well done also the Nick who placed 4th in the 140 division and Ricondo who wrestled in the 119 bracket.  
High School New England Wrestling Championships
03/01/08 - All of our place winners from last weeks State Championship qualified for the New England Championships. All of our students wrestled well but only Shawn Giblin placed in the tournament. Giblin lost in the semi-final to the tournament winner and placed in 3rd. This is fantastic for the New England Championships and Giblin will have another shot at first place next year when he becomes a senior. 
RI Regular Wrestling States
03/02/08 - Regular Wrestling States were today. We had a number of people from Mayo Quanchi wrestle and the place winner qualified for the Middle School New England Championships. 
Ocean State International
03/ 01 + 02 /08 - Our tournament was held this weekend, The Ocean State International. This year was the third annual and was also a junior point scoring event. We had competitors from all over the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Ecuador, France, Poland and a large team from China. The tornament was a great success and there was a huge display of beautiful judo. Middle School New England Wrestling
03/ 09/08 - Many of our team members placed at Wrestling States which meant they qualified for the New England Championships. Each bracket was made up of the top 3 wrestlers from each of the 6 states in New England. All of our students wrestled tough and won matches. Place winners from our team were Jacob Burrows who placed 3rd in the 91lb bracket and Serge Bouyssou who placed 6th in the 84lb bracket. Well done to all.

Liberty Bell Judo Classic
04/ 08/08 - Mayo Quanchi travelled to Philadelphia for the Liberty Bell Judo Classic this weekend. We had many competitiors who competed throughout all ages and made the club proud. We also won the junior event and recieved the team trophy for the event. This is the fourth year in a row Mayo Quanchi has won the team trophy.
04/ 15/08 - Three students from Mayo Quanchi travelled to Vigina Beach this weekend to compete in the Senior Nationals. Katelyn moved up a weight group from 44Kg to 48Kg for this event. Katelyn battled with girls alot older than her and dominated in most cases. She made a mistake in the semi-finals against the gold medalist, but came back to win the bronze medal match and take 3rd. Erin competed in the Masters 52kg and won the evnt to make her Masters Senior National Champion. Malinda also competed in the 70Kg division, this was her first major senior event and after winning her first match she made a few mistakes and ended up not placeing. Well done to all.
Mayo Quanchi Clinic
04/ 21/08 - Sensei Serge Bouyssou will be running a one-day clinic at Lafayette, Louisiana on Saturday 7th June as a preview to the world famous Mayo Quanchi Summer Camp. Here is a link to the form to apply for the clinic. All information for this clinic can be found on the application form. I am sure that everyone will have a great time and learn alot of new techniques.
Katelyn Qualifies for Olympics Trials
04/ 15/08 - A huge congratulations to Katelyn Bouyssou for being the first person from Mayo Quanci to qualify for the Olympics trails. The trials will be held place in Las Vagas in June. Katelyn at the age of only 13 will be competing for a spot on the US Olympic team to compete in Beijing this summer. Well done and good luck to Katelyn!!!!!
